Hey, Scott. Austin here from Gene Pool. In this video, we're going to talk about making a unique template for your blog article. Now, in sections, anywhere or online store 2.0. We have the ability on any page type, including articles, to have richer content by using the themes sections. So in this article example, I've got a rich text section and then a photo gallery and then a rich text section and a photo gallery over and over again to present the content in a little more engaging way than just the normal text box and manually adding images in to the article description that you can do.
So to do this, you need to create a unique template for this article. So the first thing I want to show you is in the online store section, we're going to go to theme customization, and we're just going to pick the article template that we were just looking at, which is called Wildlife. So this one template I created is applied to that one blog article and you can see over here we've got all sorts of sections added in that give us all that content on that page where there's an altercation between text and image text in images, text and images kind of thing.
But I could add other sections in here like video and anything else that we have in our theme, including things like featured product and featured collection. So to create that template, all we have to do is go into online store where we just were hit those three little dots, the ellipses and click on edit code and close out all my open windows there and all I have to do is go to the template section here folder and click on Add new template.
You're going to select article. So there's one for article and one for blog. So this is an article and the blog template is for this top level blog page. So we want an article template. So we're going to select article and I'm going to type in demo here and hit done. And that's all I need to do to make that template.
So now if I go back to my blog post under online store and try to add a new one, now if I go down to my templates down here in the lower right, you'll see that I have demo as one of my templates. I can click on that and save it and now edit. So I don't see that.
And now if I go into theme customization and up here I'm going to select under articles which you know, they called articles sometimes in blog posts. At other times they're the same thing. I'm going to select the template for demo and notice how it's assigned to one blog post. And now I have the ability to edit this article.
I can add in sections for whatever I want to do here. And then this. This unique concept will show only on that article because this template was only applied to that article. So that's how you can create a template. Apply, add your article and get very unique and rich content inside of a blog article.
