Hey, Scott Austin here in this video, I'm gonna walk you through the store redesign that we did for spiral light candles. They sell candles that have a unique way of burning. As you'll see here in that the the wick burns in a spiral around the outside for a while. And then when it gets down to the bottom, it's like a normal candle. And then you, you, you burn the whole, the whole width of it. So they're very unique and very popular people that they like them a lot. They come in lots of different sense. So they've been selling them in Shopify for quite a while, and we did a redesign in the flex theme and added lots of new features and functionality. So let's walk through that. Let's go through the top nav. And the first thing we do is we allow people to pick candles and we added some filters.
So, you know, for the, the sense of strength, the, you know, what kind of SC it has the color so they get to choose, you know, it's important to them, or they can just, you know, pick, pick a different ones. Let's just pick European lilac. And what we see are the product page. We've got reviews coming in from judge me there's three different sizes for the candles, and we've got some product seals and some content around, you know, the floral notes. And, and if the sense is gentle or strong, same thing that we had in the filters. And you'll see here, this box here, this lilac color is meant to mimic this lilac of the candle. So if I go to another candle, let's just pick one that is green, the vintage wood one, you'll see, we've got a green background and this one has this image here has green.
So we did color coding of the product page assets to match with the color of the candles, just to make it a little more holistic of an experience there. And it ends up working out really nicely. So if we keep scrolling down, we've got, you know, a couple infographics and, and video about that. And then we also show what bundles that this product is included in this sense of candle. In this case, it's only included in one bundle the, build your box, but if we go to another candle, let's pick the sweet violets. It's in a couple of bundles it's in the it's in the floral ensemble and the build your box. So people can, you know, if they wanna buy a bigger bulk or of variety pack of senses, they can see that this scent is in these other variety packs.
And that is the product page and what we do, let's just add one to the cart, let's pick a large and add it to the cart. And what we do is we have an upsell here with a linear shopping experiences app that asks them if they want to add a candle plate. And if they say yes, please, we take them off to the candle plate product and the candle. Plate's actually important because as these candles burn, some of the melted wax goes on the outside and comes down. If you just leave it on, on
A table, it'll get onto the table. So you need a candle plate to pick up the the wax as it melts and, and any wax it overrun. So it's a really good and logical upsell for us. So we're gonna add that to our cart also. And now you can see here in the cart, it's a pretty standard cart. We've got a little bit, you know, messaging going on about made in America. And let's go into the next product or category here, which is build a box. And this is really nice functionality we added for this store. So a lot of people are gonna buy sets of candles the same scent or different sets, sort of like, you know, when you buy a box of donuts, you get, you know, two of these and two of those and that kind of thing. People do the same thing with candles.
So let's say we want to get a dozen candles and we want to get large. We can see our prices is already there, and then we can start picking our candles in order. So the background color of the ones you've selected go from the theme brown to the green, and then you can also change the quantity of them. And we're managing inventory on these candles also. And now that became an interesting scenario in that normally when we do a build a box, we just add the product as a product, build your box into the cart, but because we're using Shopify for inventory management and only Shopify, there's no like external inventory management. And as most of you know, you can only have one skew in one, you know, on one product in the store at a time, you can't have two different products with the same skew or the Shopify inventory management doesn't work.
So let's get ourselves up to a dozen candles and you'll see how that, that worked. So now I've hit the dozen and I, you know, it locks me. I can't add anymore. I can change the quantity if I want and, and add more that way. But now I get an add to cart button up here. And I'll also one down at the bottom below that that element right there. So now I can add it to the cart and what we're doing because that inventory management issue is we're adding all those as separate line items. So instead of one product with a note that says, Hey, we're gonna, you know, add, have two vanilla and tobacco three smokey Tonka. We add them all as separate line items. And because we did that, right, what we normally do with a build a box is have a discount pricing scenario in there.
But because they're separate light items, we couldn't do that. So we did the discount pricing at the cart level instead. And so that's what you see here is this, this order now has a savings of $82 and 25 cents because the quantity being ordered. So we're letting the customers know that, you know, that there's a bulk aspect to ordering. And that happens at the cart level, not at the build a box or any of the other products level. So that's the build a box experience. And then we have a couple different categories of, you know, this merchandising candles in different ways. So these are gifts, you know, collections of products put together. There's also some subscription ones in here. We have the recharge subscription app added to the store where you can do, you know, three months of candles is a gift or six months of candles or 12 months of candles.
We've also got some specialty items. They do special SC every once in a while. So those, these are the, you know, the ad hoc or special SC that are listed. They also have a factory outlet functionality. And because of the nature of the manufacturing of these candles, they often have runs that don't work out well. The shape is a little bit off the color's a little bit off the sense a little bit off, and it happens, you know, regularly for them. So we, we made this factory outlet and it's a, you know, basically a spreadsheet. You, what I call a quick order view, where you can see the candle scent, the size, the quantity that's available, the normal price for that product and the factory outlet price. And then you can add that to your card if you want to.
And notice, I can't add any more quantity than five, cuz the inventory is, is at five. So this gives the customer, especially the cost conscious one who wants to, you know, save some money. They can see, oh, there's only one of these left. I bet get it now before it's it's outta stock before it's gone kind of thing. But the factory outlet actually generates a lot of volume for them. And it's the quantities are the the inventories are changing very rapidly. So this is, this template is set up at the collection level and it shows all the factors that we made a product for every candle sent for factory outlet with all three sizes. So this collection goes through all of the factory outlet products and all three sizes and sees, sees if there's inventory available for it. And if there is, it shows it and if it is so you notice our CBO man cranberry mango, we have a medium, but the small and large don't show up those variants exist on this factory outlet, cranberry mango product.
If we click on this product here, you'll see it, the small and meat and large exist, but the inventory is zero. So our quick order form actually shows that, you know, it just doesn't show those line items to make it, you know, easy for the customer to see these are the senses and these are the sizes that are available in the outlet. We also have some educational content here, the scent guide and explain how different scents, you know, smell to the nose and a little graphic that shows how that all works. And then we, you know, merchandise, the products buy those scent categories. There's a link here to the wholesale store, which is a separate store, which is I'll cover in a separate video. And then they've got a store locator app. And also, you know, I, I didn't mention this earlier. We're in the cart, right?
So here I I'm getting a 82 25 off on my cart and that's a 25% saving. So if I go to any other page on the site, once I start getting a discount, we actually show people what that discount is. Your order will receive an automatic 25% off. And if they add more products to the cart and that discount goes up, we show that to them. So we don't show it when there's no discount. So if I emptied out my cart right now, let's go to cart and hit forward slash clear with my cart's empty.
You know, the, the merchandising doesn't show up in this, this band up here, the notification about their discount doesn't show up. So we only do it when they hit the threshold. So now we'll go into the footer and go through some of the evergreen pages. They're about us. So they're a family owned business. They got some nice family photos in this. They tell the story of how they got started. They also have a history page where they tell about the history of the spiral light candle who invented it, how it was patented, how it's unique and how it's manufactured and that, that kind of information. We've got a press page for all the press covers that they've had local and national press. We've also got judge me reviews. So that's in the store here and these guys do something fairly unique in that they show every single review regardless of review stars.
So you'll notice they actually have 11 one star reviews, 22 star reviews, 18 three star, 28, 4 star and six hundred and thirty eight five stars. So they integrity's important to the, the store owner and he shows all reviews regardless of how bad they actually are. For example, I think it's this one here. They even added a photo and, you know, talk about how upset they were about it. And, but, you know, the store publishes that, you know, because they believe in that integrity of, in honesty behind the reviews. And then I'm just gonna click to another page, get to the footer more easily, then go into the review page. So we got policy pages for shipping returns, privacy, you know, all, all that good stuff, you know, put a little branding and banner on the top of them instead of just showing the, the policy alone.
And on this page here, they talk about the discounts. So the first one is the bulk discounts that happen. When you get to those quantity volumes of, you know, so it's at $75, you get 10% off at a hundred dollars, you get 15% off. And we added an, a, an app to the store that manages that really nicely. And does that, that communication that you saw that was custom code? We had to put in there, but it was, we were able to do that easily with the data from the app. And then we have an instructions page for how to burn the candles. So we show a graphic and an infographic there about it, an FAQ, and then also a contact us page. And you can see here, you know, what we did for the branding, let's just go to our, our brand guidelines page.
The site before the redesign was very black and white and we went with organic colors because their color palette of candles is very organic also. So we ended up going with a brown, which there's not a lot of websites out there that have brown as their primary brand color. So we kind of stood out doing that, right. It's not the normal, like blue and green or black and white and that kind of thing. So we went with organic colors because that's what their candles mostly are. And we picked this color palette, this color palette here for, for doing that. And you can see how, you know, the buttons look and all that kind of stuff.
